25 Sept. 2005.
Conanicus seems
to be in a hurry (unilike Homer).
He did not
take the over-water route from NC to FL, but hugged the coast. On the 23rd
he moved 164 mi. (265 km), spending
the night a bit south of Lake Moultrie, SC.
Just after 09:00 he was still near this roost site. At
14:40 he was moving southwest down the coast, just across the border into
Georgia. This was the last fix for the day, so we don't know where he
spent the night, but on the 25th around 2 PM he was in Florida, a bit west
of the St. Johns River (a favorite stop for migrating Ospreys). He settled
down near Ocala, west of Lake George.
He has now flown 1112 mi. (1790 km) in nine days.
