19 Sept. 2005.
Conanicus has finally cut the apron strings
and is on his way south. Around midday on the 17th he moved 78 mi. (126
km) west to Bridgeport,
CT. On the 18th he really got going, moving 156 (251 km) miles down to a
point just west of Atlantic City, NJ, where he spent the night. Naturally, he did this when his transmitter was not
transmitting. (To
save download costs, the transmitters are on for 10 hours and off for 24.)
The Osprey-ometer now reads 234 mi. (377 km).
He's probably finished less than 10% of his migration.
