6 April 2005.
He's
moving fast towards home and
should be there tomorrow.
After spending the night east of Raleigh
on the 2nd, he moved north, just a short hop of 55 miles (88 km), to the
John Kerr Reservoir, north of the Roanoke Rapids along the VA-NC state
line. This is one of his regular fishing holes--he spent time here on the
way south..
On the 4th, after a leisurely (well, he was
probably fishing) morning around the reservoir, he headed north around
0930 and moved 175 miles (281 km) up to the mouth of the Rappahannock
River, south of Washington, DC.
The next day he hugged the Chesapeake coastline
and spent the night west of Philly, probably along the Susquehanna River
(near the Havre de Grace bridge for those of you familiar with I-95 south
of Philly). He was 127 miles (205 km) north of the
Rappahannock.
Today (the 6th) he motored across NJ and is
spending the night near Stamford, CT. It looks like he spent some
time between White Plains, NY and Stamford, (maybe the Kensico Res.?),
where several other of our birds (HX and HW, in particular) have whiled
away their days prior to heading south.
He has traveled 3,211 miles (5315 km) since
he left Colombia 20 days ago. He should be home tomorrow.
