21 September 2005.
Homer's
continuing south. We finally have a bird moving when his radio is
transmitting, so we can get the details of this part of his travels.
He spent the night along the Meherrin River, near
Emporia, VA (the cluster of points for 9/20). He crossed into NC around
1PM and settled down on the Chowan River, where it feeds into Albemarle
Sound, a couple of hours later. He spent the night here.
On the 21st, around 10:30 he was near Plymouth,
NC, heading south towards the mouth of the Pamlico River, where he arrived
around 13:30.
He moved upriver a bit and then crossed over to
the mouth of the Neuse River, near New Bern. He then moved way upriver
again (seems to be a theme here), settling down for the night not far from
Goldsboro, NC.
Had he now flown 855 mi. (1375 km) in a most
circuitous route.
