decided this is far enough! Who needs a whole continent when you have an
enormous, shallow-water lagoon full of fish? He settled down here until
sometime in the spring of '06. In January of '05 the BBC crew flew down to
Colombia and tracked Jaws down for the final sequence in their
documentary. See some pictures of Jaws' winter
home away from home.
Jaws radio stopped signaling in November of
'05. This meant he had died or his transmitter was on the fritz. We
suspected the latter, as he was in a spot where people don't shoot Ospreys
and he should have had plenty of food. The life of a single Osprey on
"winter break" is not very demanding. So we held out hope.
