22 May 06: Early in May of '06 a colleague emailed that he had seen an Osprey with an antenna on its back near Wilmington, NC. About a week later the satellite download folks emailed to say they had been receiving a few signals from Jaws;' radio. (I had given up and deactivated his ID.) In a remarkable coincidence, Jaws' radio clicked in and we got signals as he arrived on Martha's Vineyard about the 23rd of May and then went dead again. We won't be able to trap him this year, but we have a chance next spring if he comes back and starts nesting. In the meantime, we have an APB out for sightings of an Osprey with an antenna on Martha's Vineyard.
