13-15 Sept: Tasha
continues south with gusto. She left Cape May on the 13th and moved down
the "DelMarVa" (Delaware, Maryland, and Virgina) peninsula. She
probably stayed over land all the way down to Cape Charles before crossing
the mouth of the Chesapeake and settling down for a bit just south of
Norfolk, VA (her first location on this map for 9/14/2004). Later in the
day she moved down to the northern shore of Albemarle Sound, just southwest of Elizabeth City.
She spent all day on the 15th around this area.
Winds were gentle--no good tailwind, and they're supposed to freshen up
and come from the south on the 16th, so she may hunker down here for a
while.
What she doesn't know, of course, is that
Hurricanes Ivan and Jeanne are moving towards her.
She's unlikely to feel much effect
from Ivan, which is far to the west of her current route (although it does
explain the southerly winds she'll be facing). She is, however, destined
to meet Tropical Storm/Hurricane Jeanne more or less head on in 5 or 6 days. Stay tuned!
