16 Sept: Jaws is back!
Paraphrasing W.C. Fields, rumors of Jaws' demise were exaggerated. After
more than 48 hours with no signal, he showed up on the eastern shore of
the DelMarVa Peninsula. His last fix on this map is northeast of the mouth
of the Potomac River (which comes into the Chesapeake at the very bottom
left corner of this map).
He and Tasha have now surrounded the BBC
"Incredible Journeys" crew. Jaws is SE of Salisbury, MD. The BBC
crew is due south of Jaws at Cape Charles on the very southern tip of the
Delmarva Peninsula, and Tasha is due south of them, on the Pamlico Sound in NC.
The BBC bought 4 of the transmitters we deployed this spring and summer
and are filming a documentary on Osprey migration following our birds..
