1 Oct. Homer is
finally on the move. He spent most of the summer around Priester's and
Crocker Ponds, two small fresh-water ponds on the Vineyard. On the 28th at
11:00AM he was on the Elizabeth Islands, just west of the Vineyard. An
hour and a half later he was heading southwest towards Long Island. He may
have spent the night on Block Island, because we next picked up a signal
from him around noon on the 29th, just east of Long Island. He worked down
Long Island's south shore during the afternoon. Our last fix for him was
at 20:00, a few miles east of New York City.
His transmitter was off while he crossed New
Jersey on the 30th. His most recent fix was in the very early hours of
October 1st on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay.
