made the crossing to the Florida Keys on the 28th and spent the night in
the Miami suburbs. We calculate a ground speed of about 35 mph between the
two points south of the Keys. This is a pretty soft number, but it's
certainly faster than his speed arriving in Cuba. Whenever we've had
locations over the water, the ground speed falls in this range of about
25-35 mph.
He traveled about 120 miles on the 28th, and then
flew another 108 miles north on the 29th. He spent the night just
northeast of Lake Okeechobee, a bit south of Vero Beach. He has now flown
2081 mi. (3498 km) in 12 days. His is now averaging 173 miles per day (291
km/day).
